Does anyone have updates on resort damage resulting from the bomb cyclone of January 4th? This thing seems to have given the Cape, islands, and Long Island a real beating.

I own on Nantucket at Brant Point Courtyard, but this might be a convenient place for news about any resort. Conditions on Nantucket seem very bad.

I haven't heard of any damage at our Nantucket Tristram's Landing resort. It seems that most of the flooding was near downtown, so I can understand why your location might be more exposed. Madaket has seem some damage this winter from other storms, but not as far inland as we are.

I was on Cape Cod last weekend. Didn't see any damage. The big bad "bomb cyclone" was mostly just terminology used so they could cover the storm all day for ratings. After media calling it again and again a "Blizzard" all day, it never even met the official definition. What the storm ended up being was 14 inches of snow for most people. By any measurement it was equivalent to a few storms New England gets each year. It was a bit windy, but I snowblowed and then went to Cumbys for a coffee.
As for the flooding, well it receded and we don't hear about damage. It's over. Riled a lot of people up, got great ratings, and sold infotainment in their all day coverage. That's all it was about. Ahhhh ahhhh the sky is falling!

In recent days / the past week, I've seen news reports of serious ice dam problems in your geographic area. I have a brother who lives in central MA, so my ears perk up when that area gets mentioned. Specifically, according to news reports, overflow from the Millers River (due to the aforementioned ice dams) has required evacuations of assisted living / nursing home properties. Are those reports inaccurate?

There was story of an ice jam for a moment. Then they all went home.

I'm in North Grafton, so this is still quite far for me.

Out here we have ice storms that damage homes, and take down trees at higher elevations up 190 towards Leominster like in 2011, and on Dec 1st 2013 there was a 65 car pile up on 290 the black ice was so bad . I don't see this as abnormal that a river would freeze and have chunks of ice break off . It's Winter in harsh New England.
Remember the ice jams from 2015 where no one could even buy a roof rake and people's roofs were collapsing from the layer of ice and 2 feet+ of snow on top?? People were driving up from NYC just to clear roofs and make big money.

This weekend it's going to be 50s so no ice dam river blockages, no roof ice dam collapses and no hail damage!

Quick update. The storm caused the grounds to flood and some minor damage to Brant Point Courtyard. Everything will be repaired by season and reimbursed by insurance. Based on what I learned Mariner House was unaffected; Tristam’s Landing as well.
