Good morning Everyone. I am new to the forum, and have been a MVCer for about 3 years now. We are looking to sell, and/or get out of the MVC. Any one had luck doing either?

Points or weeks?

Do you have a loan balance outstanding to Marriott?

There’s a thread a little ways down called Reselling vacation club points that might be helpful if you haven’t seen it.

You cannot sell your MVC points with a loan on it. You can contact MVC and plead hardship to see if they will take it back.

You are going to have to pay off your loan first. Then call Marriott to resell your points if you want to use them. They will offer you somewhere between $1.50 - $2.00 a point. Or you can try to resell on the open market and maybe get a little more. In the end..prepare yourself to lose the majority of the money you paid.

Meanwhile, perhaps consider renting out your points here on TUG or via TUGger Steven Ting’s website Vacationpointexchange.com
You could at least cover your MFs short term and perhaps some of your loan fees until either you find a way you can effectively use your points in future or the best way to sell them?

And you're going to get back only a small % of the up front price which is likely far less than you own. I wouldn't recommend just walking away but you need to look at your overall finances and see what you can do. If you truly can't afford it, the answer may be different than just you want out. Often when people look at this they learn that the loss is more than they're comfortable with and for options like TUG, that they an learn to use it well and decide to keep it.

If you only put the minimum down payment down and have been only making the regular monthly payments on the mortgage for the three years of ownership, I am afraid that you simply won't have enough "equity" to sell the points for what they get on the secondary market. Consider $2.00 to $3.50 resale.
