We've taken the Hollywood tour from the resort twice in the last couple of years, but would rather not stop at Universal Studios for 3 hours to catch the Extra taping. We would prefer to see more of Hollywood. Are there any good tours from Anaheim since we will have a car, but definitely will not drive to Hollywood? Also, does anyone know which buildings have been refurbished at this resort so we will know what to request in 3 weeks?

Not an LA native. But it appears you could drive to the train station in Irvine, Tustin, or Santa Ana. Then take Metrolink or Amtrak to Union Station downtown, switch to the Red Line, and take it to the Hollywood/Highland station. That's pretty much ground zero for all things Hollywood, including Grauman's Chinese (or whatever the current name is). We've purchased walk-up tickets for Hollywood tours from there. There are a number of vendors with booths in the complex. We've done Starline tours, who do various escorted tours in their vehicles. There are others.

Or, as you suggest, you could take a tour from Anaheim. I don't know of the vendors, but you could Google it.

Thanks for your help. We're seniors, but one has difficulty walking and uses a cane. I'll Google tours from Anaheim. We're trying to find a tour bus that will allow us to see different areas and maybe the Hollywood sign and famous homes. We still have a few weeks to search.
