Excellent and thorough piece with some interesting history. And a follow-up next week. Begs the obvious question - "Where do people go when they don't want their timeshare anymore?"

lots of folks like to sugarcoat things...but being truthful.

noone is failing to find a solution to end their ownership...that exists for 100% of owners if they stop paying.

folks are looking for a solution to end their ownership without the penalties that come with defaulting on loans/contracts. It is very clear that "exit companies" are masterful at finding that price point at which someone is willing to pay to save their credit scores! only to end up likely being urged to default when its all said and done if they happen to own at a resort that is truly unsellable and wont accept a deedback.

and all that (including the names and companies) can be found in various threads on those topics dating back more than a decade here on TUG.

it is most certainly a walk down memory lane.
