Hi Gang,

Early indicators suggest the Microsoft’s answer to the Wii, the Kinect hands-free controller, will be this year’s must-have, impossible to find, Christmas toy.

If anyone wants/”needs” one, Best-Buy, currently has them in stock with free shipping.

Although they are currently out of stock at the below-listed online retail stores, here are links to quickly check current real-time availability:

Amazon (Retail price is $149.99 if it costs more than that on Amazon it is just a reseller trying to make a buck via Amazon’s web site)

Wal-Mart (Currently sold online only in a bundle with two additional games for $249 or with a new XBox Console that most people interested in this new toy already have.)

Target

ToysRUs

FYI,

We have had one since day two. It is a great product and kinect adventures which it comes bundled with is great fun. The grandkids have owned a wii for over one year and like this much more. It is better than any motion sensing device requiring you to hold something. The freedom is great and it uses your whole body, you can hit balls with your head, feet, chest, elbows or nose. It all is sensed by the Kinect. We have a fitness game we have not yet tried but look forward to that and other games as more and more are developed.

Does anyone else have any experience with this? I was looking at one for christmas but my freshman aged son said 2 of his friends have it and don't like
it. Said it works inconsistently. I original was looking at a Wii but since we already have the Xbox was considering this. Dawn

Wow! Best Buy online sold out already.

Best Buy is sold out online, as are several others. I bought one at Microsoft's store with 2 games.

It will be interesting to see if Best Buy, Toys R Us, etc., get more in for Xmas.

This is a quote from my post:

"We have had one since day two. Additionally, I find no inconsistency. I am sure that each game will be different as developers are free to develop games that take advantage of the Kinect as they see fit. Some will certainly be better than others. As we speak developers have been busy creating new games for the xbox and Kinect. The technology as it is being used is revolutionary in the video game arena. I read that Microsoft bought several companies that have developed motion sensing devices and software as they try to lock up all the relevant patents. It may be quite some time before we see another video game company using similar technology.
