We were planning to just do the historical sites, but maybe we'll do the lights. Are the lights in your first post the same as the ones with the website in your second one?

What's Christmas Town like?

Newport News Virginia

Celebration in Lights - 17th Season - 2009

Tonight we went to Celebration in Lights, a two mile spectacular holiday
light display! It is Virginia 's first drive-through holiday light event.

Newport News Park has placed over half a million individual lights creating
animated holiday and fanciful scenes. It is one of the best light displays
we have ever seen. We were so impressed we dove through twice.

The Grand Entrance

The magic of the holiday season comes to life as reindeer leap overhead
from the dark winter woods, candy canes twinkle along the roadside, and
rainbow-colored scenes reflect on the park's ponds. Traditional holiday
scenes include “Winter Wonderland” with penguins, skiers, and snowflakes
and “Santa's Enchanted Kingdom” presented by Christmas Town, A Busch
Gardens Celebration, with elves, rocking horse, toys, and Santa Claus.

Regional scenes: The Battle of the Monitor & Merrimack and Jamestown.

Newport News Park is located at the intersection of Ft. Eustis Blvd. and
(Route 143) Jefferson Ave. in Newport News. Directions: Eastbound I-64
use Exit 247 Lee Hall, Westbound I-64 Exit 250B Rt. 105 Ft. Eustis Blvd.
Hours and admission are: Sunday-Saturday 5:30 - 10:00 p.m. $10.00 car.

Greeting from Virginia Beach! We drive through the Holiday Lights at the Beach every couple of years, it is nice. The biggest problem is the traffic waiting to get into the board walk. My family enjoys it though, and it is something we do every couple of years or so. Hope that helps!

Merry Christmas,
Dan & Family

The lights display in the second post is a lighting display drive-thru located in the City of Newport News,VA (about 10 miles from Williamsburg,VA).
Right off intersate 64 going East.

Community Christmas Tree Lighting December 24, 2009 at 5:30 PM

Did anyone here go to the Community Christmas Tree Lighting
Duke of Gloucester Street at Market Square in Williamsburg VA

Colonial Williamsburg and the Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg co-sponsor(ed)
the lighting of some 4,000 twinkling lights on this years 35 ft. evergreen.

According to Colonial Williamsburg, the first Christmas Tree recorded
in Williamsburg, Virginia was at the St. George Tucker House in 1842.

Best wintertime Williamsburg family resort

I am thinking about booking a week in Williamsburg for the week between Christmas 2010 and New Years. Can go through RCI or II. Any resort recommendations? We would like a nice kid friendly indoor pool and need a 2 bedroom.
