I need to fill out a form and rather than fill it out by hand I'm trying to fill out the PDF version using my laptop. I've found PDF-XChange Editor for $43.50 but I'm hoping to find some freeware or something with less features that will simply allow me to either fill in the PDF or overwrite.

If you are on a Mac, you can use Preview app to open the PDF. Once open, click view and select "Show Markup Toolbar". You can type, write, and even sign a document.

In Windows you can try Libreoffice for basic editing and filling PDFs is free and open source. here is a quick video:

Finally, in your phone, you can use Adobe Fill & Sign, Adobe Sign - Form Filler, or SignNow. There are many other and they work on both Android and iPhone.

Good luck!
