Howdy TUG'ers

I need help with an issue that I'll attempt to explain:

Chrome has lots of features/options... but apparently I'm NOT using one of them.
On some websites... all of the text and graphics are present.

On others.. it seems to be trying (unsuccessfully) to insert something.
In that area... most times an endless circling circle appears.

To get around it.. I use Firefox browser and everything in the circling-circle area appears !

What must I do/undo in Chrome to fix this ?

Thanks folks !

Doug

Is it possible that you have installed an ad blocker and the 'blank' spaces would be occupied by ads if you didn't- or it was disabled?

Ad-Blocker: Not to my knowledge.
How can I find out or... if an ad-blocker in present, how could I disable it ?

Yesterday I tried to log-in to https://www.optumrx.com (Medical Prescription site for my health plan)
There's a photo of a couple preparing a salad.
To the LEFT of the photo is a rectangular box with the spinning-circle.

If I use FireFox: there's a log-in "feature".
This is what is supposed be appear regardless of which browser I use.

Any clues ?

Not all website developers code the site to display exactly the same on all browsers. If you have to use a particular browser to see all the features, report it to the owner's support peole. I'm sure they'd like to know.

Another thing to try just for fun. Click the 3 dots at the upper right of Firefox. In the drop-down menu, select 'Open new Incognito Window' a new window will open without using any of your cookies. you'll have to put in your own passwords on sites, but you can escape all the paywalls and subscription stuff. It also won't leave digital tracks of your browsing history.

Chrome blocks flash content by default, and after December won't show it at all, due to the significant security risks involved. To see flash (for the next few months), click the icon next to the url, then site settings and allow flash. You'll then be prompted to reload. After chrome permanently blocks flash you'll need a different browser.

ETA: flash doesn't seem to be used on that site, as it's turned off for me and login area loads fine.

I hadn't considered flash. That's likely the culprit.

So, when you go to the site.....

Click on the 'lock' symbol as shown in the pic below. You can adjust the specific site settings from there. IF you trust the site....then change the settings to 'allow' for the site.
The site uses 3rd party hosting, youtube, javascript and more. I would change java to allow for a start.

Depending on your settings, blocker extensions and 'safety protection' settings, you could definitely be breaking this website.

You can always try it on firefox, edge or even explorer (ugh) if you need to get it to work.
Try firefox.....

Yaterhed:

Followed your suggestions.

JavaScript was Already “Allow”

I "allowed" Pop-ups and redirects: Did NOT correct problem

Flash Was Blocked so I Changed it to ALLOW: Did NOT correct problem

There must be something with my desktop,

I Went crazy and 'Allowed' everything.
But.... it still doesn't display the "Log-In" stuff. :crash:

Optumrx isn't the only site that doesn't display everything (Chrome).

Well....as I said: Try Firefox.

It loaded as expected on both for me....not sure what might be breaking for you.
Do you have a VPN? Consider activating it and see what happens....

As I mentioned in my original post... it works fine via Firefox.
That's how I was able to log-on and order my prescriptions.

Nope... no VPN.
Guess I'll file this under: Unsolvable.

Thanks everyone for pitching in.

As a last resort:
Uninstall chrome, including everything in the registry - IObit's Uninstaller is good for this.
Reboot and reinstall Chrome. I did this once, and it helped me with something.

Might want to do this except I'd lose all my bookmarks, passwords, etc. etc.
It's easier and safer just to flip over to FireFox in those rare cases.

I use Chrome and OptumRX. All okay. I'm sure you've already tried to see if there are any updates for your computer?

My other suggestion is to turn off your security program for a few minutes and just see if Chrome works when it's not on. Sometimes there are compatibility issues.

I'm pretty up-to-date with updates due to having IObit Software Updater installed.

I'm using the same security programs since Day-1.
Pretty good suggestion tho.

THX !
