Yup. We got that memo. Ironically our card is the World Mastercard. So much for that!

I am glad we got our recent trip to Utah just under the deadline since we charged the airfare and lodging and car rental on it. (Thankfully we had no claims).

I had been hanging onto my Citi platinum MasterCard for occasional use in travel-car rental and such- and as an alternative to my CapOne Visa. It will probably just be tucked into the safe now. I'm guaranteed no annual fee for life or I'd just cancel it.

In doing a quick perusal of the listed benefits of my Costco card, most remain but it looks like Trip Cancellation and Interruption Protection is gone (and compared to the screen shot of the Citi Prestige in the article never had a lot of the other travel protections to begin with). The other thing that is gone is the Citi Price rewind. The only thing that this changes for us is that it's no longer my backup travel card (although it looks like the rental car insurance isn't great but at least it's there). We will continue to use our Chase Sapphire Reserve card as our primary. I'm not sure what the back up card will be now.

I've had the Citi Prestige since it came out with amazing benefits and watched them all get slowly gutted over the last two years. This card is on the chopping block for mid 2020 before my annual fee comes due again.

The Barclays AA Aviator Red card still has most of the benefits Citi dropped. Same annual fee, no foreign transaction fee, free baggage, preferred boarding too. I got this one last year for the points, and looks like I'll be keeping it (for the free baggage mostly) instead of Citi.

Did I miss anything?

I was really disappointed with dropping the travel insurance when I first got a pop up about it while looking at my online account about a month ago. I use my double cash back Citi MC for all travel related purchased because of the insurance. I was going to replace my card with something else, but eventually came to realize that I didn't get the card for the insurance. I got the card for the double cash back, which I still get. The travel insurance, price rewind and all the other benefits were just really nice icing on the cake that I had no knowledge about until after I got my card and read the enclosed brochure that came with the card.

Double cash back is still king in my book. Give me money and let me use it for whatever I want whenever I want. If they change that, then there will be no reason for me to keep the card.
