Is Interval supposed to work this way?

I could be doing something wrong, as I'm new to Interval, but here's my situation/scenario:

I placed an OGS for a region, I de-selected ALL the AI resorts, and on the request i put down 2 BR or 3 BR.

So what happens?
1) I get emails almost every day saying "we found something" and they're always AI resorts, studios, and 1 BR units. Even though I specifically excluded the AI and said I wanted a 2 BR or 3 BR unit.
2) When the *do* find a match, they immediately confirm it and send me the confirmation, so then I have to hope the email wasn't delayed as you only have 24 hours to cancel it. Does II not have the ability like RCI where they send you an email with the resort HELD and you have like 5 days (I think that's how long my last RCI "hold" was when it found a match)? Or does II just do one shot only, with no heads up, and that's it?
3) They are constantly calling, never leave a message, and when I do accidentally pick up it's the case of scenario #1
4) Every time I call I have to go through the sales pitch about insurance, upgrades, etc.

Granted, my RCI access is via Hilton, so it works a little differently than the points system with RCI, but so far I'm not really liking the way that II OGS search/matching/notification is going, but perhaps I'm doing something wrong.

I like the II resort choices (which is why I have a membership with them) vs. RCI.

Thanks!

Yup, that’s how they work.

I would try narrowing down the selection to specific resort codes (instead of an entire region). Perhaps that will reduce the number of calls, emails and automatic confirmations which you have 24 hours to cancel. But they will always keep trying to offer you something else.

I agree, use resort codes for your ogs and dont list your phone number in your profile, put in a bogus number like 555-1212 :)

Yes, I only selected specific resorts from within a region.

As much as I dislike RCI (mostly due to the fees) I will say their OGS mechanism is WAY better than II's.
Oh well, live and learn.

#1 this is giving you alternatives, really harmless as it does not confirm you, just lets you know if you want it call. #3 them calling you happens when you get the email, usually 3 times in the day, no need to pick up unless you want the week. If you do not want the emails/calls call them and say you only want you asked for.

#2. I suggest you only put in the codes of the resorts you would be happy to accept because you are automatically confirmed, no way around this. By leaving #1 in place you will get those emails/calls when other resorts are available in the region not on your list but if someone else requested you will miss out.

#4 they are only doing their job asking the questions. You can tell them upfront please not to discuss extending, upgrading as you will not be spending any additional money today.

Give II time, you will get use to II. I prefer them to RCI.

Thanks, I'll have to call and inform them of all the above.
Initially I went online and did the request and only put the specific codes and then the whole snowball started.

LOL.

I much rather prefer RCI's system, not necessarily their resorts/fees.
Oh well, can't have it all--haha

From my experience, II will offer, not confirm, resorts in the same location. The email will say that the resort is held until end of day and for you to call if you want it. If the match of a requested resort is larger, i.e. more rooms, than your week that you are trading in, they will call and email you and you have until end of day to call. It has worked well for us.

The phone calls are annoying. I get one or more every day. They keep trying to give me a resort I do not want. I am waiting for something for March, so I do have the time.

I'm with you. CallerID shows they called, but never left a message 4x one day.

I do wish they would 'hold' and not confirm (like RCI does, at least with my Hilton account), especially more than 24hours. Will have to make sure I never put an II OGS in when I'm traveling as I may end up with something I don't want (or rather, doesn't work well). Like it's not so much the resort, it's that by the time they have a date, you look up air fare and find out it's way more expensive now or something.

But lessons learned, so far I'm not out anything, other than some time, and I'm sure I'll get used to the nuances of II. Probably about the time they change something (haha).

Thanks all for the advice/suggestions/explanations!

to Stop them from offering smaller units, enter the number of adults as 6.
When offering alternates, II ignores the unit size you request, and instead looks at number of adults & children
