Benn here MANY times - I come for 2 days when I work in the area. While the unit IS starting to show a bit of age, I have noticed a new outlet - two 3-prong outlet …..WITH 2 usb charging ports ! (and one of the few resorts I have been to that drop the paper at the door)

(and at this point, they give the parking pass with little hassle)

Very nice. USB charging port outlets are so useful and easy to install. Glad that they're keeping an eye to what's helpful for guests.

We've always appreciated it when we've stayed in a standard lockoff 1BR with a "partial" or "mini" kitchen but they still offered a small dishwasher. Not all of those units have them, but we sure like it when they do. Plenty of convenient outlets and charging outlets are a big deal too. Same with sufficient towel bars in the bathroom.

We bought a new house and I decided to replace all of the outlets in the whole house because they were all upside down and showing their age. Since I was doing them anyway i put a USB one in the kitchen and the master bedroom. Best idea ever! They are so convenient. Even though they are way more expensive than regular outlets- totally worth it, and no more difficult to install than a normal one!

If they’re that much more expensive, why not just use a 110 to USB adapter?

Because - at least my house - they have a tendency to disappear every now and then.

I think those outlets are great for countertops. But if you have small kids and leave your cord in one of those that is on the floor, you are putting a child at risk because they will put that cord into their mouths. Just warning people about that because my sister said a friend of hers had a grandchild, a little toddler, die in the last few days because of that. SO SAD!

My son took a couple electrical wiring classes in high school about 10 yrs ago. He later installed new outlets in my house... upside down. He said something about that 3rd prong being on top being safer.

The industry method is to put the switched outlet with the ground on top. The switched outlet is the one controlled by the wall switch when you walk in the room, so you can plug a lamp into that outlet.

So, perhaps we need to define 'upside down'... lol.

Until my son made the switch for us, I mostly saw outlets installed with the ground prong down, and occasionally, sideways. So in my head, prong up is 'upside down'. A true electrician probably considers that proper.

I didn't get the impression that it mattered if it was a switched outlet or not (and none of my lamps have a ground prong.) But I'm not an electrician.
