What are the odds? [of reserving school breaks with Staroptions]

Hi everyone,

I’m new to timeshare purchasing but have rented for a couple years. Curious to know your thoughts on availability to use staroptions during school breaks. If I buy SVV (81000) and am locked into school breaks, will I be able to reserve at the 8 month mark in other resorts?

Resorts would be east coast accessible, little interest in HI for example due to the long flights. We’d be looking for Atlantis, Jensen Beach, Lagunamar for example. And SVV itself good, but not every year.

We can be flexible for size and even location. Studios are fine, 1 bed great, 2 bed probably overkill.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

A pretty good chance at all of the above. Things may change though if Marriott introduces an overlay program especially for the Lagunamar and Harborside availability.

Resorts Owned
MGO, WKV, SVV Bella
Summer break- yes to all
Christmas/New years break- no to all, unless you get very lucky with a cancellation
Spring Break- yes to all except Atlantis (west coast is very hard over spring break)

81000 will not be enough for a 2 bedroom at Lagunamar or Atlantis during school breaks. Not sure about Jensen. You would need all 81000 for the 1 bedroom and 67100 for a studio

It all depends on where your kids go to school. If they are on break mid-May though early August. May be ok. If they don't go to school until after Labor Day, your chances are better. Christmas break probably not a good idea anywhere. I know for a fact that at Lagunamar you would not have any chance at Christmas break or February break. I talked with the pool concierge's and they warned me to never come during those weeks... the chairs are stacked at the pool 3 or 4 rows deep. People sleep all night in the pool loungers. Spring break is different in many areas of the country, so you might be ok then.

As an example, we live in the northern states and our school doesn't go back in session until after Labor Day. We have often traveled for vacation the last 2 weeks of August and have had no problem finding places to stay at during those weeks. But, as byeloe mentioned, you have to watch on whether or not you can get a full week in with only 81,000 options during what is considered high season.

I've consistently managed to book all of them for winter and spring breaks. Summer should be easy.

Air fare will get ya though.
