Does anyone have a credit card with free travel insurance? I have been using Citibank 2% cashback card, primarily because of the 2% cash back coupled with the free travel insurance. They are dropping the travel insurance benefit in a couple weeks. I still appreciate the 2% cash back, but trying to figure out if I want to get another card that comes with free travel insurance.

FWIW, I have lots of credit cards already. They are all free other than my Hhonors American Express which I pay $450/year for. I don't really want another high annual fee card unless I decide it's better than some of my other cards, which I'd drop. I don't usually fly anywhere. I take really short cruises. When I book my cruises through Costco, I get a nice rebate. So, I also wouldn't want to get a card with insurance that forces me to use their travel agent.

I think your Hilton Aspire offers it. Several Chase cards do but they all have annual fees.

I have a Citi Dividend Worldwide card, but the travel insurance is limited on it to $1500, so I have to get additional coverage through standard travel insurance.

Most of the credit cards are dropping it now unfortunately.

The problem with most credit card travel insurance is that it only covers cancellation. Often there is no medical benefit if you are injured or sick while traveling. They will cover a cancellation if you have a medical issue that prevents travel, but if you need medical attention while out of the country it often is not covered. I don't think any cover medical evacuation. I wouldn't rely on credit card travel insurance for most cruises.

I have 3 that offer travel insurance coverage. My American Express Skymiles, American Airlines Visa, and RCI Mastercard, all offer some level of coverage. The caveat is they only cover items that you purchased using that card. I recently had a posting about this subject: https://www.tugbbs.com/forums/index...-travel-benefits-affect-your-decision.291712/ You can check out the responses I received.

I did find a diamond in the ruff. I own with UVC, Villa del Palmar, that includes basic coverage with you maintenance fee with the option to upgrade for more coverage for a nominal fee.

Chase Sapphire Reserve does provide Medical Evacuation up to $100K. It also covers sickness. I believe that CSR offers the most comprehensive coverage out of all credit cards.

I have used CSR medical coverage for sickness on a cruise ship and while travelling in Europe and they paid up.

Recently I cancelled a complexed trip due to sickness and they paid all of $8K cost which I had applied for. It was slow but it got done.

Thanks for the participation. After looking at everything, I think I'm better off just buying individual trip insurance for the time being and then perhaps get the expensive Chase card if and when I start traveling more. My daughter uses that card, but I'm pretty sure she is locked into some specific travel stuff with them. I know dealing a claim in the past was difficult for her, but eventually she got paid back.

I have the RCI MasterCard and can’t locate the travel insurance you’re referring too. I’m looking at the link through Barclays. Can you give a brief description of the benefits or provide a link? After their recent “improvements” I need a little incentive to keep the card.

After signing in to your Barclay Card Account select "Rewards & Benefits" / "My card benefits". On that page there's a left navigation. Select "Travel". There you'll find links for "Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver", "Trip Cancellation & Interruption", "Travel Accident Insurance", "Baggage Delay", and "Travel Assistance". Follow each link to get the details for what's covered and the limits.

For example "Trip Cancellation & Interruption" states:
If your covered trip is cancelled or interrupted due to a covered reason, this benefit can reimburse you up to $1,500 towards the cost of your trip. Reimbursement is provided for the forfeited, non-refundable, unused payments.

In addition to each benefit summary you will find a link to a PDF document that covers all details of the benefit.
