We did end up cancelling since Vistana waived the $75 cancellation fee. That was before the forecasts started to show the more eastward track. In any event, we are now prepared to ride out whatever heads our way and will probably rebook for another weekend coming up as long as there are no issues in Orlando. Apparently this weekend was the one to go to Orlando. A lot of people cancelled or checked out and the parks are dead with very few people and the weather is great! Though it probably won't be like that in a couple days.
I saw that. That would have been a great weekend to be there. It’s ok that’s how it goes I guess. This storm is devastating abacos in the Bahamas. I can’t believe how slow this storm is. It’s absolutly terrible. I was shocked flights came into nassau today

I suspect similar devastation on Grand Bahama Island. The storm is now only moving at five miles an hour and could even stall over the island as it starts to turn north. 185mph winds for that length of time will cause massive destruction. We pray for the people of the island and Freeport.

It’s absolutely devastating. I can’t even imagine what it is like to be there. The poor people of the Bahamas. This is truly a destructive storm. Even now we are seeing strong outer band storms with intense lightning and thunder storms in Nassau.

Do you know if the flight that brought you to the island was able to reload and leave? Planes sitting at a small island airport could be tossed and damaged leaving the crew stranded.

It’s totally understandable why the flight attendant didn’t want to fly into the storm with the potential of getting trapped on the island. Not a vacation for him/her.

We flew into Nassau on an airbus. The airport was open all day and flights left. That flight turned and left back to MIA I believe. No flights were stranded into Nassau. Had the FA not stalled we would have flown into even better weather. I was actually quite surprised. We had more turbulence over the Carolinas after takeoff in sunny weather than we did landing in the outer bands of a hurricane

Well, we went ahead and made a new reservation for this coming weekend. The only real issue we would have run in to if we had kept our original reservation is perhaps some rain and wind on our drive home, which would have been Wednesday morning. There wasn't much here in Jacksonville except a stiff breeze and some off and on rain.

Oddly there was no availability for the weekend of Sept 14th but still lots available this weekend. I was able to use our restricted SOs to make this reservation.

Fitzpatrick's Castle Holiday Homes,
Enchanted Isle.
HICV at Cape Canaveral will reopen tomorrow.
Waiting for our points to show up in my account.
Will try to rebook in October as long as we get the points back. I have it in writing that they will give them back.
We also have a Groupon for their restaurant, hoping they extend expiration date. Since we cannot go in September. Will get it all sorted out this week end.
