Hello all,

We went to a presentation yesterday and even though i did some research here, they wore us down. We definitely overpaid but we really like the HGVC. We would like to buy resale, probably 7000 points, we would like to stay mostly Florida, Hilton Head, Ocean city and Aruba. We travel as a couple or with 2 grown children. We travel mostly in the summer to fall season and would be looking for annual or biannual. I've done some research here and on redweek and it looks like i can save a tremendous amount of money and help a fellow member at the same time.

I guess what i am looking for is advice on what and where i should be looking to purchase to put me in the best position to assure my travel to my favorite places. Particularly, MF.

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and helping us "newbies".

I like the newest property on the Las Vegas Strip, but 7000 points anywhere in Vegas is the best deal. But other people might have other recommendations. You will need annual and might need two years of points if you go to Hawaii or other high cost areas. Congrats on getting out of your high cost contract and buying resale.

Congrats on rescinding. If both you and your SO or spouse signed the Ts, make sure you both signed the rescission letter sent certified. How much did you save with the rescission?

They told us we were buying a resale so I thought the price would have been reasonable. Gonna save 13,000.00. We are looking strongly at Elara in Vegas. I think we could get a much better deal. Thanks

Ha! Ha! That has to be one of the best salesman's line of all time. Perfectly true because there is no such thing as a "new" timeshare. But as we know, when we say "resale" it is bought from an existing owner at a fraction of the cost - not from the developer.

Sure it's a unit that HGVC bought at a resale price from the owner. Now they have marked it up to retail. LoL

We own 2 timeshares (Westin a Vistana timeshare and Welk) and we bought 3,500 Club Points HGVC Elara by Hilton in Las Vegas EOY for $20,000 with the hopes of renting or using it for football games and NBA summer league games. I must have bumped my head because I know the game and still signed and convinced my husband to sign on the dotted line. And I'm a TUG member. Long story short, we rescinded the offer when we got back home and purchased a true resale HGVC Elara by Hilton 7,000 Club Points for $7,500 eff. January 2020 and the owner let us have this current years 7,000 Club Points. I will NEVER bump my head again. I feel confident this was a great deal.

Yes, certainly is a much better deal than what you had from the developer. Glad that you got that all straightened out. Congratulations.

Buy platinum season - it's not just the points to look for. The maintenance fees are the same for the same size unit regardless of season, but you get the higher points in platinum season. Higher up front cost probably, but a better long term strategy. Of course, there are exceptions, so I look at the cost over ten years per point to see how a particular property compares to another.

You have the luxury of having time now to really understand and make a smart choice with out being under the salesperson pressure.

There will be lots of deals to look at so take your time.
