Right?! I refused to get on one in Santorini. I walked down those steps. I did take it going back up.

I've been on that gondola! It had a gorgeous view of the water and a lovely area to hike around the top with scenic overlooks. It was very busy the day we stopped when vacationing in Vancouver.

We need to say thanks you to those employees who saw the cuts in the cable and called the Royal Canadian Mounted Police before anyone was injury.

I just drove by that gondola yesterday. It is a sad act.

Whoever cut must have guts of steel? I wouldn't expect you could just go in with wire cutters. It would take some serious equipment. Also the tension on the cable would be so much that it would likely snap back after being cut through. Potentially deadly to the assailant. Because of this, some have questioned if it was cut at all and not just product failure. The gondola is made by the same manufacturer that made the new attraction at Walt Disney World, set to open in the near future. There is a conspiracy theory for you...

That thought did occur to me, too. The fact that the RCMP and the operators of the gondola so quickly attributed it to being a deliberate act must mean there is some direct evidence. The RCMP in particular aren't normally quick off the mark with explanations on a case until they are reasonably certain of the facts. Scary nevertheless. It would seem it must be someone (and more likely more than one) with some expertise and perhaps a grudge??? :ponder:
