We save a lot. We get all our dvd movies from the library and my wife all her reading material. I would guess we save 200 on dvd rentals alone.

You can download books which is great. I know that saves a ton for avid readers.

Our city library just switched from Overdrive to Cloud Library, so Kindle readers were no longer supported. But when I was at book club last Tuesday night, the other members informed me that we also have a county library that I can join and the county uses Overdrive. Now I can read the books on my Kindle. I was thrilled. This is going to save me a ton of money!

I take my granddaughter to the library several times per week. There are classes at the library that are free, and the regular toddler classes are music and movement and storytime, and they also have additional once a month classes, like dance, exploration activities sponsored by the Denver Museum of Natural History, and then fun activities like "tape town," where the kids all brought their own Matchbox/Hot Wheels cars, and the librarians made roads in the activity room out of tape. There were activities and errands to do along the road, like a car wash to wash the cars (tub of soapy water); post office, where they could mail a letter or postcard: a fast food joint, where they bought food and pretended to be the person selling the food (these were just pictures of food that were laminated). It was so fun. Raelynn just loves to go to the library several times each week. I love taking her. She is a dolly. She is almost 5. Free movies, checking out books, read aloud by Grandma, and even toys, games and blocks to play with.

We are at the library usually multiple times a week. Our library also has a running total and we are in the thousands saved. It isn't just books, we also get DVDs and video games. We have also used the library for free museum passes.

I listen to a ton of audiobooks. Audiobooks are expensive. Plus you don’t know if there reader is any good. My husband reads several ebooks at a time. My daughters go through young adult fiction books.

So yes, I know we save a lot.

We use our library a lot for books (download to our iPads) and dvd’s. In fact, we are watching a Debbie Reynolds movie “Bundle of Joy” right now, which we picked up at our library. It’s a great resource.

Best regards.

I visit my Library almost every day. Books, Magazines, DVDs, Newspapers and use of their Computers. All free. Can renew stuff online. They send me an email when stuff is coming due. Can get on waiting list for new books with notification when it is available to me. I don't know how much I have saved but it is a lot...

Our local library just moved to a huge new building and its right across the street from the 24Hr Fitness where I have a free Silver Sneakers membership. I’ll be spending some free time at both!

Many people don't realize that you may be eligible for membership, usually free, in public libraries other than where you live ... in fact, around the world. I'm pretty sure most if not all California libraries will give a card to any California resident, for example. We have or have had them in San Diego, LA, and Sacramento. But also Glasgow!

Also consider alumni access to your college library. Or membership in a local university library for a (usually) small fee.

This can get you access to a platform you prefer, or content that may not be available through your local library.

And while this service isn't "free" I buy used books from the library, paying around 50 cents to $1.00 each for paperbacks. Saves a lot of money.
