We received an offer from Dikhololo to exchange our weeks *at no cost to us, no change in maintenance fees* for a refurbished unit. I'm not sure of their objective. Getting something for nothing usually turns out bad. Thoughts?

Sounds screwy. Wonder what their motive is? How many weeks do you own?

Ask them to elaborate, not enough info.

This is their reply:
"Dikhololo is upgrading the Studio units and making them into a 1 bedroom unit, still sleeping 4 people, where the loft is now being closed up into a private bedroom.
Dikhololo will also be looking at making 2 studio units into 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom units and this is because of keeping up with the demand where families are requesting bigger units at Dikhololo and we all aware the current status is that there are too many Studio units which turn people away from booking which results in a loss in income whether in rentals, levy or even exchanges.

You will now be the new owner of unit XXXXX which has already been refurbished and made into a 1 bedroom unit, without any transfer fees or extra levies that a 1 bedroom would be charged. Kindly note your Week and everything else stays the same, it is just your unit number that changes. This is a bonus for you because it creates room for a better exchange value since you bank your week."

This apparently only applies to fixed weeks (we have 1 fixed, 1 floating, purchased resale back in the day). Strangely, our purchase documents say we bought a week in a one bedroom sleeps 4/2 privately, NOT a studio. I'm not sure what DIK is up to with this exchange.

Back "in the day" when the units were first being sold, many of the 1BR's were actually studios (thanks Jeff C) because the lofts weren't enclosed into a bedroom. So when they were deposited into RCI, they only received credit as a studio. Be careful of the offer as Dik may very well increase the Levies to reflect the change from a studio to a 1BR.
