Some of us don’t want to consider the alternative. Keep taking your meds.
And if I get too far off the deep end, just say, "Jim's off his meds again."

For me....it's my kid. A high school friend and I were just talking about this over the weekend. We both had our kids a bit later in life. We have friends who are empty nesters already and we have kids in grade school. Both of us admitted our current goal is to be around long enough to ensure they are self sufficient. After that we will worry about how long we can live and enjoy retirement - which for me, will be right about the same time she is (hopefully) is on her own.

Having a daughter with a disability pushes me to stay healthy and active as long as I can. I also have a brother and sister 9 and 11 years older than I am who are late 70s and early 80s. Both have health issues, some related to cancer, joint replacement, and other diseases that they couldn't really protect against, but also some related to taking less care with weight and fitness. I was just with them and it really struck me hard how quickly I could be facing similar challenges. Definitely gives me incentive to go to my regular exercise that focuses on strength and balance!
