I've got a stay coming up at a Sheraton Vacation Club resort. Can I give them my Marriott Bonvoy number and receive credit for this stay? Has the merger taken place? if not, when does that come into effect? Thanks in advance for any clarification.
How was the stay booked? If booked through Marriott.com-then yes, for sure. If booked through II, I believe so, but I am not sure. To answer your other question, they have not merged with MVC and no date has been shared on that.
To clarify, the merger of Marriott Vacations Worldwide and ILG/Vistana (which includes Sheraton Vacation Club) was completed on September 1, 2018. So Sheraton Vacation Club is now part of the same parent company as Marriott Vacation Club, but they are still being operated as two separate programs. Both clubs, however, do participate in the BonVoy program by virtue of the fact that Sheraton is one of the brands owned by Marriott International, the hotel management company that manages the BonVoy loyalty program.
If booked through Marriott.com-- you do get credit like any hotel stay.
If booked through Interval-- you MAY get credit. There seems to be conflicting reports. Some report getting it with no problem at all. I stayed earlier this summer at Sheraton Vistana Resort in Orlando and did not get automatic credit. I completed the missing stay request form and got an email back saying I would not get credit (I had always gotten credit with exchanges and getaways in the past). Twenty days later it suddenly appeared. Some have said they always buy something small and charge to the room and that seems to trigger the account in a way that they get the expected "night" credits. Be sure to verify they have your Bonvoy number at check-in.

Just stayed at Marriott DSV1 on an II Getaway and got the Bonvoy credit. I'm hoping to get the credit again for an upcoming stay at Westin Desert Willow on StarOptions. We'll see...

I just wanted to remind everyone if you missed it in an earlier post, Westin and Sheraton Vacation Clubs can be rented at a 25% discount by MVC owners. You just enter 14974 as the corporate rate.
