Anyone know what a good unit is to use at home to take blood pressure with?

I use an OMRON BP 785. I find it to be very accurate. It has a memory and two channels so both spouses can use it and keep track of their readings. I got mine in CVS but it's a pretty well known brand and many outlets carry them. I've had it for a few years now and If I remember correctly it was about $75.00

As you can see, Omron is perhaps the leader when it comes to Blood Pressure Monitors.

I chose the Omron 10 Series Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor. I got mine from Amazon for $48.99 and it's been quite accurate. It has Bluetooth and I can send everything, pressure readings, pulse, any irregular heart rhythms, etc. to my phone via their app. Great for the next doctor appointments.

My wife and I use a LotFancy cuff. It is accurate and stores alot of readings. It is also under $30 at amazon. It has a feature that can tell if the heart isn't beating properly like in an irregular heart beat. For a few months my heart wasn't beating right and the cuff allowed me to see the skips. Oddly, I think seeing the skips didn't really help me one bit. Just one more thing to worry about.

That's what we have. Easy to use and accurate. The pharmacist recommended it and said he wished he'd bought that one instead of the finger model he bought.
Never tried the finger one but did try the wrist one, tried three different models, never right, always inaccurate low readings.

I have an OMRON upper-arm-cuff one but usually use a Tatung wrist unit. Last time at the doctor, they used an Omron wrist unit. I told the nurse that I was surprised, because I think their reading is quite sensitive to it correctly being placed at heart level, and elbow not too bent. She agreed, but indicated they were only looking for a rough number, and that if it were too high they'd use the manual (you know, 20th-century) instrument.

I am a school nurse and we have both the automatic and manual cuff machines. We use Omron automatic cuffs. We have found that wrist cuffs are much more inaccurate, but that the Omron upper arm cuffs are pretty close to the manual readings.

Doctors offices have never had success using a wrist model on me, either low reading or no reading at all.

My physician recently recommended I buy a Blood Pressure Monitor to take daily measurements for a couple of weeks before returning for a follow up visit. Ended up buying an "Equate 6000 Blood Pressure Monitor" from Walmart for about $40. It has two-user functionality - 90 memory recall per user. Displays average of last 3 measurements. Clock display with date and time stamp for logging and trending measurements. Indicates an irregular heartbeat (IHB) during a measurement. Large, easy to read back-lit displsy. Wide range cuff accomodates most users - 8.6 IN to 16.5 IN.

I've been very happy with this easy to use monitor.

We just bought one last week from CVS that is marked CVS Health. Cliff had taken our old Omron with him to his last doctor appt (not true, he called me from the office because he'd left it on the counter so I had to deliver it to him) and it was not in sync so we bought a new one. He brought it along on our trip and I was skeptical the othe night because it was telling me I was something like 117/78. I do not have normal BP and take medication twice a day. Just now checking it 3 times, I got first 137 then 148 over something which is good for me because I generally register in the 150s. But third time I got 120/81 which I know is wrong. I've been sitting in the same place for 90 minutes and it is 3 hrs since I took my morning BP medicine. I do have a raging headache and have had four Tylenol caplets and I'm sitting with a heating pad on my neck. But I can't say I'm happy with this machine. Saved the box and receipt so looks like we should go back for another look at what's available when we get home.

Purchased the Omron BP-7000 Bluetooth upper arm cuff a few months ago. I am happy with the unit. It stores readings in my smart phone, and I can add notes.
