Playing around with my new Vistana account. I thought we could search without giving up the week. This screen looks like I have to give up my week before I cans search.

You have to initiate it through Interval International. meaning go to II, set up your unit there (you may have to make a couple phone calls there to set it up properly. Once is set up there, you can put in a Vacation request with your unit, either as a search, or an ongoing search.

I've learned this all in the last year, with the help of TUG posts:)

i though with a mandatory resort you used corporate account instead of my personal II account. The new II account is supposed to be part of my VSN membership. I am going to let my personal II account expire.

The exchange button on the Vistana site is a recent addition. You should have a direct II login. If you click on the "what I own" button on the "dash board" Your ownership should show your external exchange II #. You may be able to use that to sign up/in to the II site

If the transfer was just completed, you may not have an II Membership number in your Vistana online account yet. It may take a few weeks for them to get that setup. However, I would see no reason to ever use a mandatory Vistana week to exchange in II. The StarOptions are much more valuable than an II exchange.

Some mandatory Vistana weeks are very suitable for exchanging. I routinely use Interval to exchange my Kierland 37000 units (small side, one bedroom, shoulder season) for off season weeks at Westin Princeville. The 37000 SO's would get me less than half a week at this resort; the Interval exchange is easy.

I am not planning on actually giving II the week. I just want to do my own personal trade test to see what the Vistana week pulls that my non Vistana week cant see.

Keep in mind that a deposit of the same week will see more. Remember that exchanging is not a transparent process, and values of weeks may change at any time without notice. I now typically only search with my deposits, when I used to do test searches as well with a VSN week.
