For 81k we have several possible options at the 8 month mark. Not sure which one I would like the most. Its just me and the wife and we will cook breakfast and maybe pack a lunch. Will go out most nights for dinner or get take out. I do like an ocean view.

My Options
WKORV Studio 67.1K (small, no view, no lanai)
WKORV Studio Ocean Front 81K (small, good-view, no lanai)
WKORV One Bedroom 81K (large, no view, nice lanai)

WKORVN Studio 67.1K (small, no view, with Lanai)
WKORVN Studio Ocean Front 81K (small, good view, with Lanaii)
WKORVN One Bedroom 81K (large, no view, nice lanai)

WNOV One Bedroom 81K (large, no view, nice lanai)

What would you do ?

I’d take the WKORV studio ocean front. You still have a small kitchenette to make breakfast & lunch. And you also still have a washer/dryer. I love my views when I can get it. Otherwise, my second choice would be WNOV ignoring view just for the extra 1 bedroom space and newer resort.

Don’t do Nanea. The noise from the back is bad, especially with the shuttle beeping constantly.

I’d do WKORV-N studio for ~10-11 nights and use as much of the 81k as you can. The trick for a long stay is to start on a Sunday.

go for the WKORV Oceanfront studio. I was evaluating the same for my 2020 anniversary trip and got one.

from what our TUG sources say, the WKORV Oceanfront studios DO have lanais. All the regular WKORV studios do not.

This is correct. All WKORV-OF studios have lanais. The "deluxe" ocean front studio lanais actually have OV views (i.e. sideways to the ocean), although excellent OV views. The "premium" (center) studio unit lanais have full, dead-on OF views.

I would consider WKORVN OF studios because the units at the end of the building are straight on to the ocean and may have a better view than the WKORV south deluxe OF units which are on the side of the building. Here is a WKORVN OF studio balcony view:

There are only 6 WKORV center studios and your odds of getting one as a trader are low. You have higher odds of getting one of the end studios at WKORVN, however as a trader you could also get a worse unit but still very good OV which may not be much different than side OF studio at WKORV. (I have not stayed in either side unit so cannot compare.)

If you are a lanai lizard, go for the 1 bdrm to get a table and lounge chair because the studios only have 2 chairs and a cocktail table.

You know which type you are reserving when you make the reservation, because the Deluxe villas are labeled as "Ocean Front Deluxe," and the center villas are labeled "Ocean Front." They aren't interchangeable.

If you can get an OFD or center Studio - I'd take that.

If you can't get an OFD or center Studio, I'd reserve a 1 bdm. in the North phase, where you know you won't get a parking lot view, because there aren't any.

Some of the WKORV-N OF studios are offset to the water and over the restaurant. I’ve had one of those and there’s no way I’d pay extra (over any other studio view) for that.

Agree. I've seen those units and would not be happy. Especially on lower floors. Less likely to get as a WKORVN owner if you reserve early in home window. But traders would have a high probability of getting this because there is no way to differentiate the reservation.

Another reason to own there unless you plan to visit off peak.

BTW...front desk person told me that resort owner timestamp trumps elite owner timestamp if later even by two seconds. So booking at midnight is crucial to get best views.

I do the same as the OP (make breakfast/lunch go out for dinner) and have gone to WKORVN every year since 2012. Also several of the WKORV North island view actually have Ocean views and will not overlook a parking lot like WKORV south does. If you must have an oceanview than that is what I would do. Otherwise I would stay as long as I could in a WKORV North studio.
