Any remember Crossing the Delaware by Ferry

before the Delaware Memorial Bridge opened ?

The Delaware Memorial Bridge is a twin suspension bridge
crossing the Delaware River. The toll bridges carry I-295
and U. S. Route 40 between Delaware and New Jersey.

Its construction was authorized by the highway
departments of Delaware and New Jersey in 1945.

Congress approved the bridge project on July 13, 1946,
and its construction began on February 1, 1949.

The first span opened to traffic on August 16, 1951,
and at the
time was the sixth-longest main suspension span in the world.

Construction of the second span began in mid-1964.

Finally, on December 29, 1969, all eight lanes of the
Delaware Memorial Bridge Twin Span opened to traffic,
making it the world's second longest twin suspension bridge.

PRIOR to the opening of the Delaware Memorial Bridge
At New Castle, Delaware motorists had to wait for the ferry
across the Delaware River to Pennsville on the New Jersey side

Q:
Anyone remember the New Castle-Pennsville
ferry (terminal) that people used to take their
vehicle across the Delaware before the bridge?
Anyone have any old postcards or photographs of
the ferry boats or bridges from the 50`s or 60`s?

Wrote to Atty regarding the advice that you gave, about Ocean Time. He does not have a list of non payers and said that he doubts that management would provide it.
Grew up in Jersey and rode that ferry several times. Was told that near the end of it's time Coast Guard was keepinga close watch over it.

Biggs Museum Dover

Biggs Museum of American Art located at 406 Federal Street in Dover Delaware. Upon arriving at the entrance we were greeted by a flock of 1,200 aluminum birds taking flight from the brick plaza overlooking Legislative Hall. We enjoyed a leisurely self-guided tour of the museum, viewing the fine art collection, exhibits, antique furniture and beautiful paintings in each of the many galleries.

Miss Marty, What timeshare resort would you recommend for this area?

Dover is not a big tourism area other than the casino. There are none in Dover. Closest would be the DE beach area that has two. Summer place in Bethany would be about 50 minutes away and is available commonly off season but a hard get during the summer for obvious reasons. There is a tiny one in Dewey 15 minutes closer but not readily available. Ocean city MD has a lot of timeshares and would be anywhere from 1 hr to 1 1/2 hr depending on where in OC.
