I have had OGS that were really just test searches to see if they would match and not that I was waiting for that specific match. Since I wasn't really waiting I didn't mind that the time or how close it came to check in.

It really depends on different factors. For one, if it's a drive-to destination, one can wait longer. If it's a fly-to destination, getting airline tickets to close to the date might be a problem or at the very least more expensive.

We usually have very specific needs, so sometimes the search comes through, sometimes it doesn't. What I'll usually do is have some kind of back up, usually a rental, that can be cancelled without penalty if the trade doesn't come through.

I have back up and a back up to my back up. Just wondering what is the longest anyone has waited. Who is the Tug member with the most patience?

When I first read your question my initial response was "I have no idea how long I've waited for an OGS." I have one going on right now that I started a few months ago. It's for March of next year, and I'll probably wait until the last minute to see if I get it. So that would be almost a year if it goes that long.

I think, not sure, I waited over a year. I will go to my history and see if the info is there.

As far as compromising, I have. If I really want to go about 6 months out I compromise but I haven’t compromised in years.

Using WM my ogs for New York in Sept resulted in a one bed Manhattan Club in under two months. I used WM for a two bed Grand Mayan in the 45 day window and the search lasted about a week. I use the RCI / WM department.

I gave up a search for the Banff area for a 30 day period that began at the end of May to the end of June last year, after a match come through that I rejected as the timing was not ideal. No other match came along...

I started another search for several select resorts west of the Banff area for one specific weekend next May just a little over a year out. Don't have flexibility on the date as it coincides with a cruise ending in Vancouver, but I did downgrade from a 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom for this search.

We shall see....

I waited 9 months to get a trade into Marriott Crystal Shores. Was willing to wait up to the month before. This was pretty specific, only that resort, 30 day window.

I've actually waited for nearly 17 months when I wanted to go to Hawaii. The search was matched about three weeks out.

I really didn't worry about the wait as I had made airline reservations. I also had Hotel reservations that I cancelled once the trade appeared.

By the way, I was trading into Marriott's Ko Olina on Oahu. A very worth while trade in my opinion....

I would like to get the exchange first and then buy the airfare but may have to try it your way.
