We usually have very specific needs, so sometimes the search comes through, sometimes it doesn't. What I'll usually do is have some kind of back up, usually a rental, that can be cancelled without penalty if the trade doesn't come through.
When I first read your question my initial response was "I have no idea how long I've waited for an OGS." I have one going on right now that I started a few months ago. It's for March of next year, and I'll probably wait until the last minute to see if I get it. So that would be almost a year if it goes that long.I have back up and a back up to my back up. Just wondering what is the longest anyone has waited. Who is the Tug member with the most patience?
I think, not sure, I waited over a year. I will go to my history and see if the info is there. How lomg is too long ? Do you give up and compromise or wait until the last minute.

I would like to get the exchange first and then buy the airfare but may have to try it your way.I've actually waited for nearly 17 months when I wanted to go to Hawaii. The search was matched about three weeks out.
I really didn't worry about the wait as I had made airline reservations. I also had Hotel reservations that I cancelled once the trade appeared.
By the way, I was trading into Marriott's Ko Olina on Oahu. A very worth while trade in my opinion....
