I would fly Hawaiian if the price, and schedule, were better than the other airlines serving Hawaii.

I am still waiting for a flight DEN-OGG that is nonstop and doesn't fly at night. I want something that leaves at noon and arrives at 10 PM. DEN should have flights to/from Hawaii that are non-stop, reasonably priced and daytime flights to get me to/from Maui without sleeping on the plane. We lack decent flights out of Denver.

Funny how #1 and #5 are basically the same. This is just an ad for Hawaiian air by points guy. For us from San Diego, Alaska compares almost equally in all 5 areas to Hawaiian, including a free welcome mai tai in economy.

Hawaiian >> Alaska
1. The Aloha Spirit
>> The Alaska spirit including free mai tais and the green agriculture form :)

2. The Seats (Hawaiian Airlines offers some nice lie-flat seats in first class)
>> Nope, no lie flat seats on either airline. Hawaiian regular seats 1/3" wider. Basically the same aircraft.

3. The Food
>> First class compares, if not better on Alaska. If you want coach food from airline, go with Hawaiian.

4. Hawaiian Airlines Awards Miles Based on Distance Flown
>> Same as Alaska

5. The Service
>> See #1

Exactly. Most posts on that site are simply ways to encourage credit card applications.

I generally find Alaska better than Hawaiian. Most times tho' from my airport, Seattle, Alaska costs up to $100+ more.
Recently I had to book about 7 weeks in advance to Honolulu; not as much lead time as I'd like.
Alaska fare was quite a bit more than Delta or Hawaiian ( who had same fare for coach).
I chose Hawaiian because I got free seat selection; with Delta I would have had to pay more to move up from basic economy.

We didn't get free mai tais on Alaska the last time we flew to Honolulu, back in March.

We have had flights that went in and out of Denver to OGG (we were flying from ABQ originally). So I don't remember what the times to and from Denver were, but nonstops do, or at least did, exist. This was on United. However the last time we were scheduled for this flight, the flight from OGG to DEN was cancelled and they ended up routing us through Chicago to get back to ABQ. :( That is why we now fly to the Bay Area, spend a couple of nights in San Francisco, then fly on to Maui.
