Working in retirement means you are not retired.;)
Working in retirement can mean you are living your dream of what you wanted to do, including working for yourself.....writers, artists, photographers, bakers, etc.

Live your dream at retirement and if your successful what a wonderful feeling. Unfortunately you get penalized from SS.

I am not working a job in retirement, but I still feel like I am always working. That's all I ever do.

I suppose, if you love those- "hobby" type jobs you could always do them for free - or volunteer-but there are expenses involved..

It’s amazing how much I got done when working. Retired, not enough time and it goes by fast. Just how it is, at least for me.

The point being that up until your FRA, you can earn some money. (iirc- some $14,000/yr) without it affecting your SS. Earn more and your SS is reduced a dollar for every $2 you earn. After your FRA, your earnings have no effect on your Social Security.

Mary Ann, if you want to call some post retirement gainful employment or freelance work, 'A JOB', that's your prerogative.

I think that there's work, and then there's WORK!
