Our new (resale) timeshare is currently with Hawaii awaiting deed recording. When it gets recorded and Hyatt finishes transferring, we will need to change which week we go next year because our week will fall on our childs' college graduation day. Our week next year is in May. My question is, when the transfers are done, what will my booking options be? Can I book any week in 2020? Can I only book from my May week through the end of 2020? Is it May2020-May 2021? Something else? I know I can only change weeks if I find another week that someone else wants to give up. I am staying in my home resort if possible.

Your post is not clear; do you own a fixed week?

You can either use your deeded fixed week, or your can use points to book any other available week. You will NOT get any preference or extra availability in Maui because you own in Maui. You will see the same availability as any other Hyatt owner booking with points.

Sorry if we were unclear. Yes, we will own a deeded fixed week. The problem is our daughter graduates in Colorado the same week as our deeded week. We just do not know what the booking process is to change what week we can go for next year only. We know we will only be able to change to a week that another owner wants to offer up and that every other Hyatt owner has an equal shot at the week and it is first come first served. What we do not know, is if we see an open week in April 2020, will we be able to grab that one even though our deeded week is in May 2020 or can we only book weeks that open up after May 2020? We're sure once the process is complete, Hyatt will give us some sort of account or documents explaining all this, we were just looking to see if we could get a 'heads up' as to how the process works and if there is anything we should be aware of so we do not go into this blindly. Never owned a timeshare before.

You receive your points one year before your week. So if your week is in May 2020, you get your points in May 2019. When the transfer is complete, you will see that you already have points in your account. You can use those points to reserve any available week. No timing restrictions.

Then six months before your week, in November 2019, if you have not reserved your deeded home week, your HRPP expires and you can no longer reserve your deeded home week. But the points still remain in CUP until May 2020, you can still use your points to reserve any available week.
