Best beach near Royal Sea Cliff Kona

Looking for easy access beach where wife can lay out and read and I can splash around in water (preferably without water shoes).

I will have a car but of course prefer shortest drive possible.

Thoughts???

Beach at Marriott Courtyard King K hotel, White Sands Beach, both on Alii Drive.

Alternatively, you could try Kahulu'u Beach Park which is quite a bit larger. I have found the water to be cloudy the few times that I have been there, but maybe it was just the times that I visited. I think you are going to find all the beaches around Kailua have a lot of lava and sharp coral rocks, thus need water shoes.

The ones south of town on Alii Drive are relatively small and hard to find parking if you go later in the day.

There is a large beach just north of town that has plenty of parking, its the old kona airport beach park. The old runway is the parking lot, lots of sandy beach alongside.

White Sands depends on when you are there. It is also known as "Magic Sands" beach as at certain times of the year there is no beach to speak of.

There was one by the airport a few years ago that was clothing optional for those desiring an all over tan or BURN.
