I have had a few friends that have stayed at Wyndham resorts as my guests and they have been told during a sales meeting that we are receiving points (as the member) for their stay and purchases? Are they referring to the useless Perks program, the Wyndham Rewards Credit Card or something else? Perhaps they are just blatantly lying...

Can anyone shed any light on what they are representing to our guests in relation to this topic? I do not know of anything that Wyndham is "giving" me when I book personal reservation or for others...

Yes, they are most likely talking about the credit card and Wyndham Reward points - which can be used to book a resort unit under certain conditions, but it is unlikely they will receive enough to do so.

They also might be tricking them into the Wyndham Discovery package, which is like a trial Membership and costs a few grand that you can later apply to a purchase of developer points.

I do not know the current practice with WMTC by Wyndham but a few years ago if a friend or family attended a sales pitch on my referral I got "X" number of one time use Points for Reservations. If they actually bought I would get 5 × X one time use Points for a Reservation.

Edit: I just checked and WMTC still has the Program. It is called Friends First.

You actually got the points?

I've had people been told I would get points, but I never did.

I tell people, please don't go on my account. I don't ever get anything and don't want them to feel they need to do that for me. If they are being offered something and want it, that is up to them. But I make sure they know i don't get anything (and encourage them not to buy). I've had guests text me when considering a purchase and asking if it's a good deal (thank goodness they did not buy). I only know of one guest who purchased a Discovery Package a few years ago. That was it, she didn't purchase at the end, and continues to rent from me today.

Yes. Also with our Royal Solaris Account we get a day of AI Fees paid if someone attends and if they buy we get a week paid.

I always tell guests check in will try to get them to do sales pitch but they need to say no and enjoy there stay. Only go if you really want to buy, want whatever gift they are offering and want to wast a whole days vacation.
