Sorry to be a stranger. I spent the last six months selling my Co-op in Queens and moving. No longer a resident of NY or NYC!

Sort of Bittersweet but it did not make sense to keep that place. I travel a lot now for business and DW is a telecommuter. Sold that apt for bunch of cash.
Now we have a nice townhouse condo in Danbury CT with a 2 car garage, fireplace, 2 BR, 3 bath, Deck.
Common charges and taxes are 50% of what I was paying in Queens. Living in a Co-op was a pain in the A$$.

The time was right!

Hope all is well with everyone!

No immediate timeshare plans yet. Who knows. Been renting them out.
BTW I was in Boise last week for a Conference. Nice town.
Governor Brad Little former Rancher and Sheep Herder was a Keynote speaker.
I love Idaho when I get the time to travel. :)

It's kind of a change from metro NYC, but we manage. The place has been discovered. I'll call when we're in your neighborhood next month.

Hey- you are about 2 hours from us in Hudson Valley- Pine Bush. Congratulations! Funny how your taxes are lower than Queens, but Connect. is such a high tax state also. But nice area where you are and sounds like you have a lovely place!
Enjoy!

No tell me it isn't so...Idaho is our last safe haven....I hate to think of it being "discovered"

Congrats on the sale.

I'm in the process of moving out of the city too.
It's not NYC but it's still downtown Miami.

Heading to the suburbs to my little house with
the white picket fence. My cats will love it.

I too am tired of condo living.
I'm condo president and the hassles just get
worse every day. Nobody appreciates your
free labor so I'm done. Cashing in and moving
on.

I will enjoy the extra space and the garage.
Will be nice to be able to BBQ and sleep in my
hammock on the screened porch for a change.
No more noisy traffic outside my window.
Not sure I'll be able to sleep with all the quiet. LOL ;)

Congratulations Bill, sounds like a nice lifestyle change for you.
Must be great having that convenient parking for a change!

Like jackio, we have moved from our bigger home into a one level, newly renovated home in a quieter, LI location. Still not quite ready to leave NY for good but looking for less maintenance and repairs.

Yeah this 2 story loft apartment is taking a toll on me.
I know I can't age in this place so heading to a 1 story house.

Mom has agreed to move to a smaller condo so I will have
the house all to myself with my 2 kitties.

Now to declutter and move which is a monumental task for me.
I'm only half way thru but finding it hard to do.
I need Marie Kondo! LOL.

It might be helpful to get someone in to help you. Hire an organizer/declutterer for a few hours/days to help get your head around everything. And then the condo will show better with less in it.
It will be a really nice change for you! And I know mom and auntie will like you close by.

I've been doing that but people are just not that interested in this sort of work.
My church offered to help with the big move so I've got that covered but it's
the decluttering of all the stuff I have accumulated that's driving me crazy.
I'm the one who has to make those decisions, decisions, decisions.

My energy levels are just not what they need to be to get this done quickly.
I'm working on it a little every day in between vacations. ;)
Heading to Royal Vista in Pompano for a few days.
Gotta use or lose those TS's.

I have to live with Mom and Auntie for a few months until my tenants lease is up at the condo.
They are thrilled that I'm moving in, but Auntie has no clue she is moving out. :p
We don't have the heart to tell her just yet. Why worry her ahead of time.
She's 92 now, so things can suddenly change anyway. Who knows?

It's exciting and terrifying for me at the same time.
Finally get to live in my house!
After 17 years, it's about time.

Sales tax lower. I think the income tax is lower.
Property tax about the same. However I understand there is property tax on autos.
Where I save is the co-op maint fees. All junk fees added into one big monthly bill. They have a underlying mortgage, union workers to pay, 60yr old building that needs facade work every year, heating oil, management fees... The list goes on. All in it was over $1,600 per month. Goes up every stinkin year. Now I pay a reasonable HOA fee, plus my property tax. Done Deal!

Bill
It's the most northern edge of any sort of commute back to NYC. Not that I have to do that now.
Like to outer edge of the NYC burbs. Real Estate is reasonable.
Construction is less than 10yrs old. 2 car garage. Gas Fireplace. Vaulted Ceiling Master. Nice wide open floorplan. 3 floors.

Best part is Home Depot, Lowes, Costco, BJ's, Walmart, Cheescake Factory, Harbor Freight, Stew Leonard's, Trader Joes, Aldi, Walmart ... All
within 15 min drive.

Would have loved to stay on LI. But just could not find something. Was not about to take out another mortgage either. There is a new development going up in Plainview. Asking prices are way out there.

Congratulations on all the moves!

Danbury is a nice area, I have family nearby in Bethel.

Chris, as a Realtor you know there is always too much stuff! A professional organizer can help you categorize what you want to keep/move, items worth selling, things that need to find new homes with friends or church members just starting out, whatever is left call and donate to Salvation Army or Veterans -they pick up!
