~ Nicknamed the "Blueberry Capital of the World" ~
The Blueberry is the official state fruit of New Jersey

Blueberry Season begins in late June

Where are - pick your own u-pick Blueberry
Farms and Festivals in Delaware, Maryland,
Virginia and (coastal) Southern New Jersey?

If you love blueberries, avoid buying them in the retail stores
where blue berries are sold before they fully ripen. Instead
take a trip to a nearby pick your own blueberry farm.

I prefer wild blueberries. Areas are hit or miss depending on the year. A short walk and your luck can change.

4 or 5 bushes in my backyard and a dog that ensures the soil pH is low enough. We got about two quarts of them the other day....

We have six plants out back. They are inside the garden fence so that the deer can't "pick their own". There is also a u-pick blueberry farm about 15 minutes from us. There is still one bag from last year in the freezer, so it has worked out just about right.

My kids pick their own here in Michigan. That said, my friend grew up on a working peach/apple farm and she thinks it is a riot that people pay to pick their own fruit, when it is a job that they struggle to find people to pay to do it.

There's a u-pick farm near us we visit every year in May.
This year, we picked 12 lbs. DW made 9 pies & froze 8.

We’ve got seven blueberry bushes in our back yard we planted several years ago. Been picking daily now for a couple of weeks. Recently finished our spring harvest of our strawberries and getting ready to get an avalanche of blackberries in the next couple of weeks. Love this time of year.

We love picking them in Vermont and NH. Maine also is known for those little wild ones- yum!
