We have been Starwood owners for 10 years, own four weeks at various resorts, and are Gold Elite. We have stayed at Riverfront in Avon several times, and have never had any problem asking for and receiving a riverfront villa. Until today. Not only did they put us street side, but right next to the construction site where there is machinery rumbling all day. Am I to believe that all of the riverfront rooms (i.e. half of the available rooms) are occupied by Vistana owners? Or are they now giving priority to non-owners?

The same thing happened at Kierland (OUR HOME RESORT) in March.

Our experience since the merger has been very negative.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Nope. I'm in Kauai and visited both the Westin and Sheraton. The Westin offered me one of the best locations (with a wonderful ocean view), and while the Sheraton has no view they did get me the best they had (which offers a sliver of ocean view). Both were quite accommodating about location.

All units are owned individually except when offered for resale. There is no ROFR
However when owners split up units and or exchange the some weeks become available.
It is my conspiracy nature to believe they suck the best weeks with highest marketability before 12 Month window

Are you reserving when the window opens up? I always book my home resort at 12 months (to the minute!) or 8 months if it's a Star Option reservation, and I've been happy with villa assignments.

As far as Westin Riverfront, if you are booking in the 8 month window I would not doubt you are having a difficult time receiving a riverfront view. With the extremely small number of villas available, it is not unreasonable to believe owners are in all the riverfront units even though it is not ski season. The non-ski season occupancy of Westin Riverfront has increased to where it is no longer an easy reservation in the non-peak season.

For “Spring Break Week” and given that only 1/3 of the ?138? Units are avail for fri/sat/sun checkin, you better have a very quick internet and quick fingers. In the past I have always been able to res Spring Week but I believe VSE uses turned in weeks to reserve this very very high demand Week before 12 Mo time opens and reduces availability for owners. How do I know? I have always been able to reserve villas through the hotel side when Spring break availability is gone

I agree with you, I think this happens as well. This was my experience at Lagunamar trying to book my Platinum week at the 12 month window to the second. No availability...

Not sure where you are getting the 138 number of units. The Westin Riverfront Villas has only 34 2-Bedroom lockouts for a maximum of 68 units.
