I think of Pete whenever I see a player jog to first on a popup. They're getting paid millions and they can't run to first? I know it's a long season, but once in awhile the popup gets dropped and the player still gets thrown out.

Charlie Hustle is flogging his latest book but apparently still doesn't understand why betting on his own team is prohibited

The player with the most hits ever (Pete Rose) is not in baseball's Hall of Fame.

The player with the most home runs ever (Barry Bonds) is not in baseball's Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame does include racists (Ty Cobb) and drunken womanizers (Mickey Mantle).

Oh well.

Those two not in Hall broke major rules of the game and knew what the consequences would be.

With the other two you are comparing common behavior of that era to present day.

I think baseball has it right.

So is it okay for today’s players to use drugs and beat their girlfriend and spouses?
And still be able to play in the current baseball season

Do you really believe that Rose and Bonds out of three thousands baseball players in that era ,
were the only ones that broke the Hall Fame qualifications criterias?

For the first part, I never said that. Baseball has handled those situations.

No, but You are innocent until proven guilty. There are others, Sammy Sosa and Mark McGuire come to mind that are not in because of breaking the rules.

Sosa and McGuire saved baseball doing that period, they played Major League Baseball.

Pete Rose will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Frame only after he is deceased IMHO.

Gambling on major league sports is here today and will be here tomorrow. Pete Rose, however, paid the ultimate price for his era. Rules were very strict and no one was above the baseball rules not even Pete Rose.
