I need some advice on room location at the San Diego Pulse. Has anyone been there recently? Is street construction a problem? Also could use some advice on things to do in the area.
Thanks

We stayed there last year for a few nights and enjoyed it. We didn’t notice any street noise. The reception lobby is up about 10-11 floors and the units are above that. Check out reviews in Resorts and Reviews here on TUG.

They do charge about $39 per night to park if you have a car and it is kept up the street from the resort. We like to walk, so after dropping our bags off, we opted to park at Park It On Market, which is at 614 Market St. It’s about a half mile from the resort and costs $15 per night. We didn’t use the car during our stay, so it worked out well.

For restaurants you have the Gaslamp District about a half mile walk away as well as Little Italy, which is about the same distance in a different direction.

Things to do includes looking around the Gaslamp District, a Padres baseball game if they are in town, tour the Midway aircraft carrier, Balboa Park includes the world famous San Diego Zoo and a number of museums. Those are all a short drive/cab ride or medium to long walk away. They also have a trolley system. Other things to consider would be a day at the beach (choose one of many) and Sea World.

Have fun.

Best regards.

Question regarding the $15 per night parking; Is the parking at 614 Market Street a parking garage? Do they allow in and out anytime during the duration? Do you need to leave the keys or can you safely secure it yourself?

It is a parking garage and you keep your keys. However, they don’t provide in and out privileges. That along with the half mile walk are the potential downsides to it. It worked well for us, because we were only there for 3 nights and didn’t need the car. Depending on your plans it may or may not be a good plan.

One other note regarding the parking at the resort. The lot I mentioned they use that is up the street is for overflow parking. There is some parking in the building, which is actually in the Symphony building, but the ramp is very tight with many turns, so they warn against large cars using it. We didn’t use it, so I don’t have any personal experience with it.

Best regards.
