The TSA advises travelers to arrive at Hawaii's airports three hours in advance to allow for more screening time to prepare for the busiest summer travel season on record...Busiest days at the Honolulu airport are projected to be Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, she said. Busiest times each day will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

It was a true skip the line in Lihue. We were the only people in the precheck line there. At OGG, there were quite a few people in the precheck line, but still a much shorter line than the regular line. We were just there on Monday.

At Lihue as you approach the terminal there is a security checkpoint right at that near end of the terminal building. The lines there are often much shorter. There is no pre-check there, but on our last several trips regular screening there has been quicker than going through the precheck lines at main checkpoints. It's worth eyeing it as you come into the terminal to see how the line is.

...but last I knew, not all airlines in Hawaii participated in TSA pre-check. We have TSA pre-check, but had to wait in the standard line for over 25 minutes at Honolulu when flying inter-island with Hawaiian Air.

How long ago was that? The TSA website shows Hawaiian Airlines as one of the participating airlines. And the Hawaiian Airlines website indicates they have PreCheck at select airports. I can't imagine Honolulu wouldn't be one of them. Maybe they just weren't staffed that day to provide a PreCheck line.

We flew interisland on Hawaiian from HNL to LIH, then LIH to OGG, then OGG to KOA and all had PreCheck.

If your Known Traveler Number is not in your Hawaiian Air profile, then your Boarding Pass will not show TSA PreCheck. Otherwise, you would have received it.

I read the post not as they didn't get PreCheck, but that the airport didn't have a dedicated PreCheck line.

Hawaiian Air at Honolulu definitely has Pre-check and at the end of the post that is the airline and airport they were flying.

So, I interpreted it as him saying the Hawaiian Air in Honolulu didn't participate. They do. Whether that's because he didn't have his KTN on the reservation and they didn't get PreCheck, or whether there wasn't a dedicated line that day, I have no idea.

We're going that route early next year in preparation for our June 2020 trip to Maui. We fly 2-3 times/year, and with how PHL is herding all non-precheck people to a single section (in the AA terminals), I just don't have the patience anymore to deal with it. Being able to use it in Maui will just be a bonus, at this point.

I flew out form Maui 2 weeks ago on a 2:45 PM flight and the line was minimal. Not by choice but because of traffic got to airport about 45 minutes before flight and got to gate after checking luggage about 5 minutes before flight started boarding. I asked about lines and TSA person said in the morning the lines are much longer.
