We flew on two Southwest flights yesterday, and didn't receive a ticket jacket. Just a paper boarding pass.

I haven't seen a ticket jacket in a long time. That could be because I print my boarding pass out ahead of time. But even when they have been printed for me at the airport I still haven't gotten one.

I can't remember receiving one in the last decade, on any airline.

When I flew on Southwest for work between 2016-2019 (I am an A-Lister), I went for a digital boarding pass, rarely got a paper one (if that is what you call the material it was printed on). The only time I got a paper one was when my phone's battery died (it was a 3+ year old Samsung Galaxy S6).

Travel providers increasingly encourage people to rely on cell phones for tickets & passes. I suppose it is more efficient, but I prefer to have proof of purchase on paper even if old fashioned, rather than rely on these "new fangled" electronic devices.

I don't like to rely on my phone for the boarding document because I've had several instances where I've tried to use it and the screen has blanked out. I agree, a piece of paper is more worth it, to me.

At first I was thinking a ticket jacket was someone who went around helping people at check in. I haven’t been given a ticket jacket more than 10 years.
