I was disappointed when I checked in and they told me I was in OF 5206. I thought...oh crap, over Pailolo!!! Everything is how you look at it. We love it here and are so blessed to even be in Hawaii at this resort. Same chair...Which view would you chose to focus the on? We chose view #1

Agreed. Enjoy your time there.

We have a mid-week three night reservation in OF Guest room at WKORVN this fall, so it will be interesting to see what room assignment we will get. We decided to give it a try rather than book a 1BR Resort view unit as we have already experienced that type unit and view. Hoping for the best.

We are OF owners here, but made the reservations in December for 10 days. We did not have to change rooms. We ended up really liking this room. Second floor has lots of advantages - above hedge line, below tree line, easy up and down stairs. We still love it here so much. Talked to someone yesterday about Resale and Mandatory resorts. He came back to me 3 or 4 times to ask questions. Of course I referred him to TUG.

We booked OF for Jan in North in a 1 bedroom. Haven't reserved OF before at North so we shall see. We have a studio resort view for June booked at 8 months so have no expectations .

I'm just trying to get a feel for the advantages of ownership vs exchanging. You are an owner and got OF at 6 months out. I am not an owner but was able to get OF at about 8 months out. I always thought it was hard for non-owners to get OF because the owners booked up all the good stuff at 12 months out. I think you got lucky at 6 months, and that's why you're on the second floor. I'm also on the second floor with an unobstructed view between the plumeria and the palm fronds. We are coming different times of the year to find just the right season. I thought May would be a good time to trade since the kids aren't out of school yet, and the spring breaks are over. It doesn't seem as packed as it could be, but the wind is really nasty at times.

I just happened to look on Vistana Dashboard to look for 10 days in May. I got lucky and the OF popped up. I thought that our 5* Elite status might help us out with room view, but honestly didn’t expect much because we knew we had a terrible time stamp. It has been a great trip and stay. I’m finding that the older I get, the happier I am realizing how blessed we are to even be in Maui. With a great time stamp we are always thrilled when we end up with high floors closest to ocean (usually bldg 8)

If you either own OF and booked at 12-8mos, or paid the extra SO's for OF at 8mos or less, you will get OF.

Everything else is a luck of the draw -- I've had one year where we unexpectedly got 6th floor OFD on a booking where I was hoping to get some kind of OV...
