So if you use the travel packages that get a 7 night cert, I assume you still get the free night so you can stay 8 nights with that cert ?

TIA

The 7 (and 5) night cert already includes the free night and accounted for in the cost in points.

I have read the 5 nights certs and limited. Is it common knowledge they are now available or do you need a secret code :) ?

They are available only for MVC members so you need to call and get someone who is knowledgeable or have them check with a supervisor.

But you can get them if you get the right person on the phone ?

Yes, I called about them a few weeks ago though I decided it was not a favorable option for me. My reference was to the 5 night travel combo's that include air miles, you don't need a special certificate otherwise.

The five and seven night certificates can only be used for five or seven nights. The fifth night free really only applies when booking on a per night basis using points. As mentioned, the fifth night free is already baked in to the seven night certificate.

From what I understand, these days you don't turn in points for a certificate per se. Instead, you just keep your points until you want to book a stay, and then use the points at that time.

The exception is if you are booking a vacation package that includes hotel and air.

I believe this is what the OP is referring to, a cert from a travel package.

Unless it has changed recently, whenever I have booked Travel Packages including hotel and air I have turned in the points for a certificate not used the points immediately to book hotels.
