I have called RCI about doing a cruise and now i keep getting calls for something that sounds too good to be true.

1 week cruise
1 week resort
discount on hotel
points in my RCI ACCOUNT
Extra cruises at a very deep discount.

I think they were offering me this for $3500.

Has anyone done this? It just does not sound legit and I feel it would be impossible to book

How do you know it is actually RCI calling and making the offer? They don't normally do telephone soliciting IME. This type of promotion is common in the "cruise" and "timeshare" industry by many unscrupulous vendors. They collect the cash upfront and then deliver a substandard product, or even worse, no product. I would be very wary. Before providing any money or credit card info please do some additional due diligence!!

It is VERY possible this is legit .
ICE -International Cruise & Excursions is a RCI “partner “ and handles cruise stuff for them .
added-(ie. - the travel division that - rboesl- refers to in the next post)

There was a TUG thread last year about this .
ICE also works with Vidanta - Mayan Palace - and the 1 week in a resort was at Vidanta RM. (in that particular TUG thread)

In the fine print of your RCI membership - we all likely agreed to allowing them to share information .

RCI doesn't normally call. But their RCI Travel division does. They sell packages like what you described. We did buy one a few years ago. There are a few gotchas though. You have to use the land portion first so they can get you through the sales presentation. Once you do that you can cruise and use the hotel discount for before & after the cruise to make travel a little easier. Another gotcha is the offer has an expiration. Usually 18 months. If you don't use the package within 18 months you will get calls to extend it for a fee.

We got a call like that a few years ago but declined their offer. It got DH thinking about that kind of holiday so we did our own research and booking. We took a 1 week Norwegian Eastern Caribbean cruise followed by a week in a 2 bedroom at Vacation Village at Weston for a total cost of less than $1000. We knew from previous cruises that we didn't need a fancy suite, so we booked an inside cabin though Vacations To Go for around $600. RCI had a sale on Extra Vacations at the time so the timeshare stay was inexpensive as well. We really enjoyed our vacation, especially since we didn't pay more than 3X our cost from booking the RCI (if it really was them) special.
