i have been trading with ii for years, wanna give rci a try now, i did some research on tug, but still a little confused.

is sbp a week resort or a point resort?

how much tpu do you get for an sbp 1br?

do you simply deposit a random week, or are you supposed to reserve a week yourself and deposit your reserved week into rci?

I would never deposit SBP to RCI. I would deposit to II and stay in the Vistana and Marriott resorts only.

You cannot deposit a specific week into RCI, I don't think. Vistana does bulk bankings of weeks.

I've never deposited in RCI but my understanding i RCI bulk banks and then gives you a tpu based on the average of your season. I think you get around 21-25 but you would want to confirm with RCI before depositing because it can change from year to year.

thank you for all the replies, i called rci, the fees seem ridiculous, exchange fees are 300, and you need to pay 180 every time you combine tpu, for example, if you get 20 tpu for your week, and you want to trade it for a week worth of 30 tpu, you'll have to pay 180 to combine two weeks, and then after the trade, you need to pay another 180 to combine the leftover 10 tpu with something else since 10 tpu gets you nowhere.

Exchange fee is around $240. You don't have to do the points protection. You have to be judicial when you combine and perhaps wait because sometimes you can combine more than one deposit so you won't have to continually combine a few points at a time. There are actually quite a few exchanges you can get for $20 and even some for 4-10 so don't jump to combine, you may be able to use it up without combining and if you have 1-2 left it might be better to let those expire unless you specifically need them for something.

To be honest if you exchange from a 1 br to a 2 br with RCI that is the same or fewer tpu's you make out better than exchanging and paying the size upgrade through II. It just depends where you want to go. I wouldn't open up an RCI account for a single SBP 1br though II would be better. If you already have an RCI and need a few extra tpu's one year it might be worth it.

I have deposited SBP into RCI. I got about 33-34 TPUs. I was able to get a beach week at Carlsbad and a week in Gatlingburg at Great Smokey Mountains. Both are top resorts.

33 or 34 tpu would be great if it's for a one br. But I kinda think it would have to be a two br as RCI is probably given generic deposits from Vistana, just as II does. Danny hope you provide a bit more detail on what size your deposit was, if you think it was a specific or generic week, and also how far in advance did you deposit to get 33-34 tpu. Thx!

it was not me, it was @djohn06 who posted that, i was basically asking the same question. I assume his deposit was for a 2 bedroom.

Sorry for the late reply. I just got back in the states.

I have a 2 bedroom non lockoff week 24 fixed at SBP. I just noticed OP asked about a 1 bedroom at SBP. Sorry for any confusion.

Unfortunately Vistana's bulk deposits keeps the TPUs lower than what it should be for summer weeks.
