Ski resorts in summer?

I'm not a skier so I've never visited the ski resorts in CO or UT. Are there things to do during the summer? Thinking of splitting a week or so between the two states and taking a drive.
Preferences on resorts?

We love going in summer. Good shopping, great hiking up mountains, bike riding, i.e., outdoor stuff.

We loved Summit Watch in Park City a couple summers ago. Plenty to do in the area.

Steve is right on - many ski resorts tend to have some good hiking trails and nice views.

I'd still read up on the specific resorts though - have you visited the review pages for any resorts you are considering?

It's not a Marriott, but I was at Snowbird last summer for a couple of days. There was great hiking, and I'd've liked to do some biking too but did not have time.

At the risk of crowding out my favorite places to go...

We love both Breck and Park City in the Summer. The ski areas that were once unused in summers have been built-up with playgrounds for kids of all ages. Last time I was in Breck (2017) I could not believe how the mountain has changed and how many families were in town.

But that's not why we go. We go for the amazing weather, mountain biking, hiking, craft beer/whiskey, and craft food.

On better resort? The PC MVC properties are nicer than Breck MVC properties and Summitt Watch is best in PC (for adults w no kids).

We just cancelled a trip for that time. LOL

Looking forward to going sometime...my wife and 16 YO daughter thought a week of hiking and outdoorsy stuff would be pure torture so we're going to Orlando and sweat for a week instead. :wall:

Lake Tahoe, where I call home in life and resort, is busier in the summer than in the winter. Marriott has two neighboring properties, Grand Residence Club and Timber Lodge, at which I have a rental business, not to be a shill ...

Those are at the bottom of the Heavenly gondola. Beaches, bikes, boats, hikes, one of the country's best July 4th fireworks displays, warm days, cool nights, lots of sunshine and great views, and casinos for those who dig that kind of thing.

We stay at HGVC Sunrise Lodge in the summer in Park City. We go for the hiking and to escape from the muggy and hot summers in Texas.

How can you not mention any timeshare near Yellowstone and the Northern Rockies Great summer vacations; Big Sky MT, Jackson WY, Red lodge MT, Any resorts around Flathead lake and Glacier National Park are incredible.
Skip Colorado for the northern Rockies also try the Canadian Rockies, less people and better sights. Resorts near Yellowstone are hard to get into in July and August but try the shoulder seasons the parks are less crazy with not traffic jams, Yes its that crazy. We are loving our National parks to death.

Vail has a summer concert series which features world class artists. It begins late June and ends the beginning of August. Most of the other Colorado ski towns have summer concerts and events which draw crowds as well. It can be a busy time for the mountains. And of course, you have the typical outdoor activities: hiking, biking, zip-lining, white water rafting, horse back riding, mountain climbing, to name just a few. Many people go to the Colorado Rockies in late September to see the aspens change color.
Really, the only dead time for Colorado ski resort towns is mid April thru early June and October until the ski resorts start to open. And if you want a long ski season, Arapahoe Basin is usually open from late October until sometime in June.

We love Breckenridge in the summer. The Marriott is walking distance to everything. We love biking between towns, going to free concerts, farmer's markets, hiking , kayaking, and of course browsing the town, shopping listening to music. For us it is a welcome relief from AZ summers.
