Is there a difference in what section you may be assigned when trading into Kona Coast through II? Several years ago we were in a section toward the rear area that was very nice and up to date (maybe around Building 18 looking at the map). Then several years later we were assigned a building located near check-in that was desperately in need of updating (difference floorplan also). Is there a difference between KOC, KON, KN1, and KC1? TIA for any help!

Kona Coast 1 is the original resort and does not have air conditioning. KC11 is newer and has access to a/c for a daily fee.

Thanks, cowboy. Do you know if any one of the various four codes assigned to Kona Coast Resort is assigned to KCII exclusively?

Both sections have AC. In phase one, the older section, it costs extra per day (optional to have the AC turned on.) Not sure if A.C. is a surcharge in phase two.

When we stayed at Kona Coast, in Phase 2, there was a surcharge for the a/c. We found we didn't need it, even during the summer. This was quite a few years ago.

We have stayed in Phase II 4 times, Shell owners. We have paid for AC each time. You can try without AC and see if it’s ok for you, and if it isn’t go to office and get the key to turn it on.

Some Phase II have ocean view, most don’t. They are nice units, I just worry about the vog from current eruptions of Kīlauea. Miles away but Kailua-Kona often gets the worst vog.
