Has this been noticed before? You can modify an MVCI reservation on marriott.com and change the actual name and hit save, and it actually changes the name. No more calling MVCI to add a renters name. I am concerned about security but I know the underlying reservation is still controlled by the MVCI owner.

It appears this can also be used to put any name on a reservation made under an account but I have not tested it with a non-MVCI reservation.

You can change everything except the rewards number.

Wow it even triggers a new email confirmation automatically when you hit save! It is the pretty type that MVCI sends and not the ugly plain text type that you can trigger yourself. This is both great and scary at the same time!

The one thing I noticed that is different, and I do not like, is it shows the renters name as the rewards account owner in the detail of the email. That does not happen when a rep replaces the primary name.

Tested on a marriott reservation made on marriott.com and not through MVCI. It looks the exact same like you can edit all the fields but you cannot edit the name. You can change everything else except the name.

Change the email with a PDF anotater. You can block out areas and add text in a similar font.

It was noted in a prior thread that you can use this to add a MR number to an II exchange. Though it only seems to work on the Marriott deposits.

It’s easier than that. When you forward you can delete anything you want. Doesn’t really work though because all they have to do is look up the reservation themselves. I don’t care if they see the last 4 of my mr number. Even if they had the whole thing they still can’t login. I suppose they could get past a rep which security for Marriott has proven the worst in history from a social hack perspective but it’s not like it’s my bank account.

The MR number is the one thing that I could not modify but you say it can be on a Marriott deposit? That might make sense where there isn’t anything there to begin with. Every MVCI owner reservation has it there already and every marriott.com as well.

Yes, I added my MR number to an II exchange where the unit code began with an H.

How do you even look it up if it isn't in your account? Since they made the website changes the lookups do not work for me. This is what I always get.

Never mind it worked in IE but not Chrome. It worked and I was able to add my mr#. There does not appear to be any validation. Add the wrong number and you probably have to wait until check-in to fix it. Add someone else's number and they would see it in their account and could change the name. See why it is kinda scary?

Another problem is anyone can look up anyone else's reservation and change the name, phone number, and address. While I love the convenience the security is a big issue. I realize you need the name and the rez# but the ability is still questionable. For me I love it because I hate calling.

I just added my MR# to an II reservation that was a 4 code, so apparently it works with any II reservation as long as there is not already someone else's MR# there.

It is good, as you say, to be able to have this facility on line but I am still not to clear how it works and the security is debatable.
I have looked up 2 Interval reservations today using the Marriott Reservation Numbers from our Interval Confirmation Certificates, which you can do without signing in to your Marriott account.
At first I didn’t find them, then I realised for whatever reason Interval had them in my Wife’s name rather than mine so then I found them and added the Marriott Rewards Number which is now displayed if I look them up again.
If I sign in to the Marriott account they don’t show up though, perhaps that needs an overnight run?
As I say, not too clear to me but a step in the right direction.

Showing up in your marriott.com account is literally instantaneous. If they do not show up it means the system is not actually saving your mr#. Look it up again and see if it is actually there.

I am running into this on my reservation that is an "H". It works the exact same as the others but it is not retaining the MR#. It does not trigger an email and if I look it up again it is blank. All the other regular Marriott owner deposits it is saving my MR#, triggering an email, and showing up right away in my account.

Dioxide, did you verify that it really saved your mr# for your H code? If so then there is just something screwy with the reservation that is not saving for me.

It could be on my H code that there was already someone's elses mr# there for for whatever reason it doesn't display.

It does not seem to be related to a previous MR#. Nothing in that reservation is modifiable. It looks like it is but the "saved" confirmation never shows up like it does with the others.

I am able to see the reservation in my Marriott.com account, so I am sure it took.

A mr rep couldn't modify anything either. They said MVCI can modify it but in the past I know MVCI reps could not modify the rewards number. It adds it when you book automatically but there was never anything they could do manually. I'll just sit tight and add it at check-in. The last thing I need is for a rep to mess up this reservation that I have been waiting a long time for.

This thread has me wondering now...

When I rent my weeks I use a contract stating no sublets allowed. Once I give my renter the confirmation #, does this allow the renter to enter a name change on the reservation? Or is the ability to make reservation changes limited to owners/reps?

Anyone can change the name. You do not even have to be logged in. All you have to do is lookup the reservation and change anything you want. The only thing you can't change is the mr#, if already there. That is important because it will remain in your account even if they change to a sublet name. Some of my renters manage to get the mr# changed and then it disappears from my account. You can still retake control of the reservation by calling MVCI, but if you are high volume it is a bear to manage. Most people probably do not realize they can change the name and most of those that do are not going to want to break your rules. Low risk.

Thanks . I learned something new today! I only rent weeks we can't use, about 1-2 per year. My takeaway from this is that I'll need to keep a closer watch on the reservations. Good to know about the MR info.
