Do I really need to pay HGVC $52 to change the name on the reservation at my home resort? If so, has anyone just called their resort directly without paying the fee? Thanks.

You don't if you are making a Home Week booking but do if you are making a club reservation (it doesn't matter if it is at your home resort or another HGVC resort). You can call your resort directly but they don't have anything to do with book. At least this has been my experience. I can not tell which HGVC resort you are referencing.

Charter Club on Marco is the resort. Even though I am a member of HGVC, I send my 3 flex week preferences directly to the resort and they are the ones who contact me with my reservation. Since we can't go this year, we are letting some friends use our unit. Since I saw my reservation on the HGVC website, I tried to change the name only to see the $52 fee. Thanks in advance.

Yes, if you use the web site, then you will need to pay the guest certificate fee. But since you are at Charter Club which if a Florida affiliate, I would suggest calling the resort directly. Sometimes the affiliates play by a different set of rules, plus a phone call is fairly simple (and could save you $52). I would simply explain the situation. Hopefully, you will get someone how knows you.

btw, I missed Charter Club in your listing of resort owned. Sorry about that.

Wait, if this is your flex week bookings at Charter Club, then they are like our Home Week booking which should allow a free guest certificate. I think that you can call the club and explain to them that these are your normal flex week bookings.

I already called HGVC and was told I had to pay the $52 even though it was my home week booking. Maybe I should call back.....very frustrating and tired of the nickel and dimeing.

I agree -- this is your Home Week reservation, even if Charter Club, as an affiliate, does the Home Week reservations a bit differently than for non-affiliate properties. Ask to speak with a supervisor and hold your ground! Good luck!

If HGVC agreed it was your home week you could remind them of the fee schedule in the club rules, its clearly complimentary. Escalate to a supervisor.

Thanks everyone for all your help. I called back and the fee wasn't even mentioned. I think the key words are "Home Week Reservation"

I am also glad to hear that it was resolved for you. I think most of us are not really familiar as it sounds like the HGVC call center either on flex weeks.
