Presidential and Presidential Reserve rooms require the same amount of points.
Atleast that’s what I’ve experienced making reservations at Bonnet Creek, Clearwater Beach and Desert Blu.
Are all Presidential Reserve resorts point requirements this way ?
When looking at points charts Presidential rooms are at the top ? No mention of Presidential Reserve rooms
Is there a difference in the rooms ? If so what are they?
The difference is not in the units themselves, although there may be minor differences just as there are with any class of units. Also, there may be location differences (e.g., PresRes on higher floors than Pres as is the case in Tower 6 at Bonnet Creek, I think).
The real difference is in when someone can make a reservation. Presidential Reserve units are available only to PresRes owners from 12 to 10 months before check-in. From 10-1 month before check-in, up to 75% of PresRes units are held for PresRes owners. Starting one month before check-in, PresRes units are available to all owners.
So, while I haven't found it stated this way in Wyndham's directory, I think that when you see a Presidential unit (not PresRes) available, it is a one of the 25% not being held between ten and one month before check-in. That's assuming you are not a PresRes owner.
As a PresRes owner, I sometimes see both PresRes and Pres units available in the result of a search. In that case, I take the Pres unit because that wouldn't require use of my PresRes points. That's my theory anyway. I'm pretty sure I've been able to make reservations in Presidential units when all my PresRes points have been committed to reservations.
As with all things that have to do with Wyndham's reservation system, it's hard to tell for sure what is going on. Let's face it -- the biggest violator of Wyndham's written policies is Wyndham's reservation system.
