I read that if you stay at a Disney hotel, you get to enter early before general admission to the Disney Parks. If you are staying at a Disney Vacation Club, does this apply too? Would it apply if you bought your points on the resale market? Or is this just a benefit if you are staying in a Disney hotel?

As a guest at DVC, it is called Extra Magic Hours...AM is 1 hour before ROPE DROP and evenings hours EMH are 2 hours later. It is limited to ONE park per day either AM or PM ... if offered at all. Not every day nor more than 1 park.

Wrist bands given out by your Disney lodging for each guest checked in.

Is it worth the cost of staying onsite? Depends ... for my slightly hyperactive nephew, those smaller crowds and shorter lines worked great for us. Morning hours had us at the park for rope drop for their EMH. Evening EMH for us were more relaxed.

That is the DVC side .. .as for hotels, if offered, would be the same "opened park" efficiency.

It's a perk of onsite including hotels as is free park parking if staying on site. As an owner with only non qualified points you'd also have access to pool hopping which is of limited value and currently to the BLT TOTW lounge. The park special DVC events would be excluded though as are the member cruises, dining/shopping discounts and ticket/pass specials/discounts.

DVC resorts get all the benefits of Disney hotels - including whatever Extra Magic Hours are offered; free bus transportation to and from the airport; free bus, boat and monorail travel to and from the parks; free parking at the parks if you drive yourself; free magicbands with the stay and so on...

it's important to clarify that these specific benefits are acquired as a result of your onsite stay - hotel guests and DVC renters get these benefits also, but DVC members who are staying offsite (say, at a Marriott timeshare) do not have the same access to these benefits.

Yep, early entry is a perk of staying onsite. Disney Vacation Club Resorts are included as Deluxe Home Away From Home Resorts.

Several years ago when we traded through RCI for 2 weeks at WDW we greatly enjoyed the early and late hours. I remember at EPCOT after the firework show the Disney employees started asking to see your Room Key. If you did not have one you were oolutely asked to depart.

My family ALWAYS uses the Extra Magic Hours. I’m too old and too tired to do that anymore. But it’s very nice that Disney has that extra perk for their resort guests.
