Planning to visit Newport, RI next May. Any preference between Wyndham Long Wharf or Wyndham Newport Onshore? TIA

We always stay at the Inn on Long Wharf which is just across from Wyndham Long Wharf. Wyndham Long Wharf is very nice. Visited Newport Onshore. It is nice but located in a busier section of Newport. You should be happy at either.

You really can not go wrong with either one. We alternate between the two depending on what we are looking for at the time, now we probably are 75% at Onshore. We owned at Long Wharf.

Some considerations:

Onshore units are slightly roomier.

Easy walk from Long Wharf to the main commercial street.

Easier car in/out at Long Wharf , if doing things outside Newport.

Great chance of water views at Onshore, difficult to obtain at Long Wharf.

Washer Dryer units in condo at Onshore, in Laundry room at Long Wharf.

Onshore units have balconies.

The choice often depends on what is important to you, we generally like the washer/dryer in unit for longer stays. 2-3 days it doesn't matter. Fall visits , balcony doesn't matter etc.

we go three to four times a year and have stayed at all the locations in Newport. Our favorite when traveling with the familly is Onshore. The resort can be a bit worn depending on the unit but the location you can't beat. However, traveling as a couple or with one child, The Inn At Long Warf is our choice...quiet, recently remodelded, and walking distane to downtown. We love all the resorts. Each has it's benefits...

It's been a few years since we've been there but I do recall that one of the resorts has very restrictive parking. We arrived late in the evening and found someone else parked in our 'one' assigned spot. It took a lot of effort to locate the offending owner and get the car moved.

I prefer New Port On Shore for the views and easy walking to shopping and activities downtown. I'm biased, I own there in May but rarely go.
