Dear all,

I received an offer from Westing Ka'anapali for 5 nights for $798. It says exclusive for me. I have a close friend that want to take advantage of this offer but they didn't get the offer. Is there a way to book for them? or is there a general offer that isn't specific to a person? Thanks in advance for your help!

best,
Jack

These offers are targeted to people that Starwood thinks are likely candidates to buy a timeshare. They often target people who stay at Starwood hotels and SPG members. They are looking for a minimum income and other factors.

Is there someone that can refer me so that I can get the Westin offer. I called and they said the fastest way to get it is via referral from current Westin owner.

Thanks

I just got one for Cancun. 4 nights for $250, includes breakfast, nightly cocktails and apps, and either 5K in SP or $75 resort credit. That seemed like a pretty decent deal, so we took it. Haven't tried to book dates yet (have 12 months to use.) I am thinking I will need to do so soon because, based on other threads, it might be that sunny places* will be in shorter supply within VSN with WSJ out of commission. One interesting thing was the relatively short turnaround time to purchase the package--only a week or two between when we got it in the mail and when the "deadline" was (not sure if the deadline was real or not.)

And, because I have only limited experience with SPG, which is the better deal--the SP or the resort credit? My husband chose points when he called to purchase the package, but the rep said we could change back at the time of booking. (I have waaaay more points with Marriott, so could always turn these into 15K MR pts.)

We are very, very good at saying no to presentations. We laughed our way through the Vidanta presentation the last time we went to Cancun (just wanted to see the resort) so I think we'll be okay. :D

*We sometimes refer to places like Monaco, Malta, Antigua, Cayman Islands et. al. as "sunny places for shady people" as compared to "snowy places for shady people" (i.e. Andorra, Luxembourg)....which is not at all to say that WSJ meets that criteria (at all, since it part of the US.) Cancun is somewhat on the bubble. ;)

You only get the $75 credit or spg points if you attend the presentation. You do not need to attend though, but they will be persistent.
