I wonder if putting dogs to work to find amo/guns could help. They said the Las Vegas shooter was in the hotel a few days, of course the maids wouldn't know if anything was amiss. A dog at the airport picked up on my niece's luggage. She had been at target practice and the gun had been laying where her suitcase was placed in her SUV. That's all it took for the well trained airport pooch to single her luggage out at the San Francisco airport!
The shooter lived in the area. (Mesquite, NV, I believe.) He could easily have brought suitcase after suitcase of weapons to his room without detection. I heard on the news that the police found (I think) 23 weapons in the room. This wasn't a despondent lone wolf shooter who felt sad enough to be stupid. This was a calculated, murderous slaughter. The man knew exactly what he was going to do, and how he was going to do it. The shooting lasted something like four minutes. He used TRIPODS to stabilize his weapons to increase his accuracy. That is all completely beyond comprehension to me. And I have a lot of experience with handling weapons.
